Association Blockchain Asia joins Blockchain for Good Alliance to incubate blockchain projects for social good with $5m USD through BGA’s Web 3 Key Fund
The Association Blockchain Asia (ABA) joins the Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA) as part of its steering committee, to support blockchain projects for social good. BGA’s Web 3 Key Fund is one of their first initiatives, and they have raised 5 million USD (including $2.5 million from Bybit) so far. The BGA Web 3 Key Fund will be used to support selected projects through an incubation program, to strengthen the Web3 ecosystem in our region.
Since officially being part of the steering committee for BGA in June, ABA and their sponsor, Trigger Capital, have helped advise and allocate BGA’s Web 3 Key Fund. The fund is part of the BGA incubator Programme that started in April 2024, which supports projects geared towards social good, with strong ESG elements. The programme focuses on projects that leverage blockchain technology to reduce inequality through education, improve health and security, promote financial inclusion, and address agricultural and environmental sustainability.
“We are thrilled to join the Blockchain for Good Alliance and contribute to its mission of using blockchain technology to create meaningful social impact. At ABA, we believe in the transformative power of blockchain to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time, from financial inclusion to environmental sustainability. By supporting these innovative projects through the BGA incubator programme, we aim to foster a more equitable and sustainable future across our region.” Says Dr. Anthony Koh, President of Association Blockchain Asia
To date, more than 30 projects have applied, and up to 10 have been curated to go through the incubation programme, receiving 200,000 USD as planned in the first year. Hopeful projects such as Fizen, EthicHub, and My Lovely Planet have joined the programme. These projects have helped bridge businesses to use cryptocurrency seamlessly, connect investors to small farmers to promote sustainable farming practices, and led to 360,000 trees planted. This has made the BGA incubator Programme one of the most successful and sought-after programmes making a significant impact in our region.
“ABA has been a great partner, they have generously shared their industry expertise, and connections in the regional Web3 space. Having them on board as part of our steering committee has helped us run the incubator programme with greater clarity, and fast-track other developments in the pipeline.” Says Daniel Zou, Incubation Lead for BGA.
Moving forward, ABA and BGA will be organising events across Southeast Asia and the Middle East to extend their reach and explore initiatives to supplement their incubation programme.
